It’s 6 AM and I’m doing my normal morning routine… making coffee because I have the LONGEST days. I never even liked coffee until I got to grad school. I always add macadamia milk, honey, and coconut oil to my coffee. As soon as I added the coconut oil I thought I should share why I do.
Everybody these days uses coconut oil for its beauty benefits on their skin & hair, as a moisturizer, shaving cream, etc… but they don’t use it in the most important way. ON THE INSIDE!! Coconut oil is a considered a super. food. I cook with it, put it in my teas, coffee, and smoothies.
It’s a source of healthy fatty acids, and those fatty acids help the body work to build muscle and lose body fat. It helps protect your kidney and liver allowing the body to fight back better against bacterial infections. When you’re sick, all you have to do is take one tablespoon of coconut oil three times a day and you’ll get over it super quick. It also improves skin issues, such as eczema, dandruff, and psoriasis. Also, I know this is kind of a gross subject but coconut oil effectively kills candida (bad yeast) and treats yeast infections. You don’t realize how much yeast you consume on a regular basis and overtime it can build up in your gut, causing problems such as acne, digestive problems, and UTIs. I challenge everyone to read the ingredients of different things you have in your pantry and I guarantee you’ll read yeast more times than you want to. I also encourage everyone to take the time to read up on all the benefits of coconut oil in your free time, because there are tonsssss.
But here are a few more:
- promotes heart health
- helps balance hormones
- can help to prevent and treat cancer
- prevents insulin resistance (aka reduces risk of diabetes)
Now of course I use it on my skin (not so much on my face) and in my hair. The only time I really use it on my face is to remove makeup and I wash my face after so it never stays on my face long. Honestly buying make-up remover is a waste of money, coconut oil will take off all your make up in one swipe. I also use it as a pre-poo conditioner, and sometimes as a face & body moisturizer when I want to look glowy.
Be CAREFUL about using it too often on your face loves. It is high on the comeodegenic scale, meaning it will clog your pores.
Go get you some coconut oil & flourish.
